To assist, disseminate and promote services, education and networking opportunities to independent inventors. Founded in early 2004 our chapter has made continued strides in sharing information resources to both amateur and seasoned inventors and continues promoting individual inventors.
We welcome all individuals and parties whom share the goal in further promoting an Iowa based resource for inventors and product assimilation. Meetings are typically held every 2nd Monday of the month. Meetings are free and dress is casual.
Our typical meeting will include a guest speaker and they will speak on a variety of topics that are of interest to inventors. Past speakers include patent attorneys and prototype makers. After the speaker talks we always open it up for question and answers so the attendees can ask their specific questions. We then have a short business meeting.

With more than 200 paid-up members, the Houston Inventors Association is by far the largest inventors group in America. Worldwide, the city of Houston ranks fifth in inventiveness, surpassed only by four Japanese cities. Since our beginning in 1983, HIA has become one of the strongest voices in America for the independent inventor, but we also include academic and corporate innovators. Our motto, "Inventors Helping Inventors", expresses our purpose, which we accomplish by sharing our experience in technical areas and our first-hand knowledge of the difficulties in getting from raw idea to marketable product.
Expert speakers at our monthly meetings offer their success stories, give briefings on important technical areas, or share tips for making money from innovation. HIA also helps its members by providing workshops on special topics, such as patent fundamentals, injection molding, etc. At our monthly meetings, we connect inventors having a problem with other members who can help to solve it. We do our best to protect our members from the multifarious scams targeted at them by companies that charge an up-front fee for worthless invention development.
Chief among all of the benefits of membership is conversation with some of the most interesting, well-informed, and positive people in Houston, who are at the frontier of emerging technologies.

The Spirit of Renaissance® Foundation is a charitable corporation founded to rekindle the independent creative spirit typified by men like the Wright Brothers, Henry Ford, Philo Farnsworth, etc. As we look around, we see that in every aspect of life we benefit from the efforts of those who have paid the price to create and make new products available. Had they not been motivated to bring those inventions to light, how different our economy - even our world - would be. They have provided us a life of comfort and convenience and have vastly broadened our choices of entertainment and recreation.
